UMM is a private university accredited "A" by SK Number: 074/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-IV/PT/II/2013, which centered on the campus of University of Muhammadiyah Malang III integrated, Highway 246 Tlogomas Malang, East Java. University was founded in 1964 and orphaned at an organization Muhammadiyah Muhammadiyah largest universities in East Java. UMM included in the ranks of the leading private universities in Indonesia with UII and UMY. Therefore dominated by the color white walls, UMM campus often referred to as "white collage".

At present the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) campus occupies three locations, namely at Bandung Street is campus I , campus II in Dam Sutami Street 188 A and campus III in Tlogomas Highway 246. Campus which is the forerunner of the UMM, and now it is concentrated to the Graduate program. While the second campus, which was the major activity centers, now concentrating on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Health Sciences. While college campuses III as an integrated whole essence serve as the center of activity



UMM not lose at State University baby ! 
As the leading private universities, UMM has gained recognition from external parties, ie the value achieved accreditation from BAN-PT (2013), Two-Star from Star QS, KNAPP Accredited, Accredited from MTD Registered Public Accountants, Accredited from NQA Global Assurance, and others. UMM achievements include: Campus Excellence Award winner (AKU) in East Java since 2008, winners of Anugerah I Kartika VII Kopertis East Java as the World's campus in East Java, Runner Up Efforts Puritama Adi Class II (for Rusunawa), Runner Up ASEAN Energy Award, Indonesia ranked 18th in Webometrics (even had the 8th ranked Indonesia), the 5th World rating Rich Files webometrics content, 5 stars rating for Repository webometrics Indonesia, Indonesia ranked 19th 4icu,, rating 22 TeSCA-Telkom, and others. UMM also received an award from the U.S. government as a Peace Corps Host USA starting in 2010.

UMM also has been working with off-campus parties, both from domestic and foreign institutions. For foreign cooperation in progress include: Erasmus Mundus, ACICIS, American Peace Corps, Engineering BGP Netherlands, AMINEF, AIESEC, EESTEC, USAID, AUSAID, American Corner, Corner Iran, etc.
